Attorney Lawrence Katz Helps Family Resolve Complex Hague Abduction Battle In A Case Of First Impression
Attorney Lawrence Katz has successfully resolved his client’s petition to return his children to Sweden in a complicated international family law matter. In accordance with the Hague Abduction Convention, the courts have allowed Andreas Carlwig to take his two minor children, who currently live with their mother Sarodjiny Carlwig in Los Angeles, back to Sweden for custody proceedings.
Mr. Carlwig travels frequently for work, and the entire family relocated to Sweden in January 2012. The eldest child began school there, made friends and the family established their residence. Mrs. Carlwig then relocated to Los Angeles to give birth to the family’s second child, and refused to return to Sweden. Mr. Carlwig denies ever allowing his children to live permanently in California. Now, the Courts have ordered the mother and children’s return to Sweden to secure a proper custody arrangement. This marks the first time that a child, who was born in the United States of America, will be returned to a country they have never been to as the result of the mother wrongfully retaining the child after birth.
